How are flannel fitted sheets made?
A flannel fitted sheet undergoes a special treatment. This raises and expands the surface area of the fabric, producing special fibers. This is done with special mechanical brushes that pull the fibers from the surface of the fabric. This technique is incredibly old. This age-old technique ensures that flannel fitted sheets feel soft and comfortable against the skin.
Suitable for every season
Flannel fitted sheets are often associated with the cold, but they're also perfect for warm summer nights. Their large surface area allows for greater moisture absorption than regular cotton. This makes them the perfect product to sleep under during the warmer months.
A flannel fitted sheet is also an easy-to-use fabric. It stays wonderfully soft, even after frequent washing. Ironing is also unnecessary, as it almost never wrinkles.
Flannel versus Molton
When it comes to fitted sheets, the choice of material is truly enormous. Percale cotton and satin cotton are the cooler materials, while jersey, terrycloth, and especially molton and flannel tend towards the warmer side. Flannel and molton are particularly similar. They are both very soft, brushed cotton fabrics used primarily for their insulating properties. Because both fabrics are brushed, they retain heat well. However, there is a significant difference between the two materials. For example, molton is only 50% cotton. Polyester makes up the remaining 50%. Because molton is 50% polyester, it dries very quickly after getting wet. Would you prefer to avoid synthetic materials in your fitted sheet? Then flannel might be the better choice. Flannel is brushed like molton, but unlike the latter, it is made of 100% cotton. No synthetic materials, just that wonderful warmth.
Flannel vs. cotton
A flannel fitted sheet is often confused with cotton. The difference between the two materials lies in the weaving method. Flannel cotton is made from loosely spun yarns woven in diagonal lines. It is then brushed, which gives flannel its soft, fleecy texture. The similarity between flannel and cotton is that both products have moisture-wicking properties.
